Allyson McKinney

Hospitality Manager


Allyson McKinney graduated as a Dean Scholar from San Jose State University with a degree in Hospitality, Tourism and Event Management. During her senior year, she helped plan the department’s 20th Anniversary Celebration. This special event catered to alumni, faculty, Hospitality professionals, current students and future SJSU applicants. Allyson primarily focused on the morning alumni panel discussion entitled, “Where are We Now?”, featuring past SJSU grads in the Hospitality industry who are now successful. Later that night, she, along with the team, hosted a networking event with over 500 people in attendance at the San Jose Auto Club.

Allyson also had the extraordinary opportunity to work as the Events and Operational Assistant at TEDActive 2013. During her experience, she produced special events, such as pool parties with over 2,000 guests, meal events through Food trucks, and a music festival showcasing battle of the bands. Allyson was able to utilize her skills and passion by contributing to TEDActive.

Recently, she has accepted the position as the Volunteer/ Registration Coordinator for TEDxSanJoseCA, and hopes to apply her knowledge of the Hospitality industry through coordinating registration for all their events.

She is currently working as the Hospitality Manager for Singularity University. Allyson has been working at Singularity University since 2011, starting her career as a Special Events Intern for the 2011 summer Graduate Studies Program.
