Singularity University is a visionary educational institute whose mission is to assemble, educate, and inspire a new generation of leaders who strive to understand, develop, and deploy exponentially advancing technologies to address humanity’s Grand Challenges.  We are currently located on the NASA Research Park in Mountain View, CA.  We host a Graduate Summer Program, and a variety of Executive Programs, conferences, and online events.

Vice President, Sales

Reporting to the President, the Vice President Sales serves as a key team member and an active participant in decisions affecting Singularity University. Responsible for managing sales, fundraising, and development activities. The successful candidate will help forge new relationships to build Singularity University financial revenues and reserves. Design and implement a comprehensive plan for developing key external alliances by cultivating individual, corporate, and philanthropic support.  Primary responsibility for implementing a program to meet the sales of Executive Program participation, and solicitation of corporate, foundation, and alumni support.  Expand and diversify Singularity University donor base/pipeline and work closely with other team members to secure funding for new initiatives.

Responsibilities:

  • Support and partner with the CEO on all major fundraising initiatives.
  • Collaborate with the President to develop and implement Singularity University’s sales strategy.
  • Manage the sales team and functions, including Executive Program Sales, Corporate Partnerships, and Alumni Relations.
  • Work with the  CEO and senior staff to develop and implement a comprehensive
  • development strategy to include corporate, foundation, government grants, etc.
  • Responsibility for development and execution of all sales proposals.
  • Oversee research on funding sources and trends, to help position Singularity University ahead of major funding changes or trends
  • Oversee the monitor all donor and sales information; provide and present statistical analysis to board and senior leaders
  • Develop and implement a stewardship program aimed at cultivating deeper ties with donors. Monitor and report regularly on the progress of the development program
  • Identify, develop, manage, and mentor the development team
  • Research marketing channels for SynBio Program Company Applicants
  • Identify Bay Area and Nationwide Start Up Incubators

Qualifications:

  • 10-plus years of professional sales experience
  • Demonstrated success in a development function, managing multiple lines of revenue
  • Experience expanding and cultivating existing donor relationships over time
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral; ability to influence and engage a wide range of sponsors, partners, alumni, and donors to build long-term relationships
  • Strong organizational skills with demonstrated ability to drive a sales funnel process with a team on a weekly basis.
  • A professional and adaptable style; the ability to work independently and as a team player, to manage multiple tasks and projects at a time
  • Ability to construct, implement, and manage a strategic sales development plan
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with customers at varying levels of seniority, within and outside Singularity University
  • Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s preferred.  US citizen preferred.
  • Demonstrated social network of corporate contacts within a 50km radius of SU.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to monitor customer feedback and incorporate good suggestions for continuous improvement.

Vice President, Marketing

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Vice President of Marketing is responsible for developing and executing a clearly defined marketing and communications strategy in a manner that supports consistent organization growth and enhances brand awareness. This position is responsible for planning, organizing, and managing all marketing functions to achieve SU’s objectives of sales, growth, profitability, and visibility while ensuring a consistent marketing message and position consistent with the organization’s direction.

Responsibilities:

  • Create, manage, coordinate and execute all marketing strategies and implement tactical plans that meet and exceed SU’s Mission and Vision.
  • Develop unique value propositions, business partnerships, as well as targeted advertising that increases brand awareness
  • Lead and manage Direct Marketing, Advertising, and Online and Event Marketing
  • Achieve targeted results and ensure timely and effective execution of marketing tactics and programs
  • Analyze, evaluate, plan and execute on both existing and potential marketing activities and strategies. Develop benchmark criteria to measure the efficiency and effectiveness of marketing programs
  • Conduct and analyze market research to determine competitiveness
  • Measure the effectiveness of the marketing department and implement improvements as required
  • Identify, interpret, and capitalize on marketing trends
  • Managing marketing budget
  • Coach, mentor, and raise the marketing team’s ability to deliver and exceed expectations
  • Develop and prepare key messaging and presentation materials for senior management
  • Work closely with Program and Business Development, Sales and other Senior Executives to create demand and recognition for SU and its programs

Qualifications:

  • Proficient in Google Docs, Word and Excel
  • 15 years with 7 years in progressive Marketing roles at the senior management level
  • University degree or college diploma in business, MBA preferred
  • The ability to mange multiple, complex priorities within demanding timeframes
  • Proven ability to lead a proactive marketing organization and ensure accountability for results that maximize contribution to business objectives
  • A track record of performance excellence meeting targets and objectives
  • Experience working in a start-up  and/or educational environment strongly preferred

Web Developer

Singularity University is a non-profit that aims to empower individuals to make BIG impacts in their communities using accelerating technologies! We are especially looking to leverage our current database of participants – scientists, entrepreneurs, CEOs, CTOs, researchers, thinkers, and specialists – to make these changes happen! An integral part of managing our community in the future is having an internal, search-able database that could pull information from a variety of existing social networks. Our Alumni network members would be able to see and send messages to other members – staying connected and informed. Our hope is that they could use this database as a resource for finding specialists in other fields – e.g. “top 3 Robotics experts in the SU Network.”

We are looking for an experienced web developer to create and manage a highly usable internal web directory, that could be accessed using Google Apps authentication via individual singularityu.org emails and passwords. In addition to this, the developer would also be working with our team to update, and maintain the Singularity University website and online forms.

The ideal candidate will be fluent in PHP, SQL, HTML, CSS, JQuery, MySQL with advanced knowledge of WordPress.

This is a contract position with the possibility of full-time employment in our Mt. View office, no relocation allowance, start immediately.

Responsibilities:

  • Assists in the design, coding, and testing of technical solutions.
  • Understands standard systems development lifecycle processes
  • Understands project and development plans and is able to clearly articulate roles, project goals, and timelines
  • Accurately outlines development tools and methods
  • Responsible for coding email designs and testing them for the proper rendering in email clients
  • Establishes responsible deadlines and personal work plans
  • Ensures that staging servers are kept up to date and mirror live environment websites
  • Keeps up-to-date with today’s trends and technologies

Requirements:

IT & AV Intern

* On the job training available for AV

The IT/AV Intern would support the IT/AV Manager and assist with all in-house IT, AV, and web support. Individual must be self-motivated, well-organized, customer-service oriented, and able to work in a demanding, fast- paced environment. It would help to have a strong interest and passion for the amazing content we are developing and events we are putting on.

Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshooting for PC and Mac
  • Computer & printer maintenance
  • Basic website updates and edits
  • Running errands
  • AV work involving setting up presentations (can be trained)
  • Help run Audio Visual during Singularity University Programs (Apr 11-16, June 16-Aug 26, October)
  • Website updating using WordPress (basic)
  • Assist with social media posting and planning (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc)
  • Assist with A/V handbook and checklist
  • Assist with creating presentation kits
  • Assist with creating video conference kit
