The GSP-09 curriculum consisted of interactive discussions and core lectures with some of the world’s leading thinkers, researchers, and businessmen in SU’s 10 tracks.
SU students divided into small teams to work toward SU’s Team Project theme of 10^9+ (Ten to the Ninth Plus) — leveraging exponentially advancing technologies to positively impact the lives of 1 billion people within 10 years.
The inaugural GSP-09 students were selected from a pool of more than 1200 applicants, with strong selection emphasis placed on interdisciplinary thinking, entrepreneurial skills, and a passion for solving grand challenges.
The GSP-09 faculty represent some of the most extraordinary thinkers of our age, including computing pioneers Vint Cerf, Bob Metcalfe, and Peter Norvig; top angel investor David S. Rose; futures studies luminary Paul Saffo; former astronaut Dan Barry; and leading nanotechnology researcher Ralph Merkle.
Throughout the 9-week program, many of the lectures, workshops, and demos were recorded and set on a release schedule to SU’s YouTube channel. A “highlights” clip of SU is available here.
Media outlets such as CNET, The Chronicle of Higher Education, Wired, and others have covered SU’s innovative approach to education during GSP-09.
