Ms. Ryan’s research explores the legal, ethical, and policy implications of emerging information technologies. Current projects include “Ethical Guidance for Research and Application of Pervasive and Autonomous Information Technology,” sponsored by the National Science Foundation. Her dissertation is entitled “Civic Informatics & Public Integrity: Information Resources as Infrastructure for Ethical Governance.” She will discuss “Accelerating Technologies & the Singularity” at the Society for Utopian Studies’ annual conference in October.
